A Leap Of Faith

In August 1994, at Stockholm, Sweden, Ninni Hagsten, 84, became the world’s oldest first-time parachutist. She leapt from a helicopter in a tandem jump and said she would not mind jumping again.

The remarkable thing was not just her age but her sight. She is blind! She had complete faith in a parachute she could not even see, and jumped out. If she had put her faith in a pair of cardboard wings, she would have leapt from the helicopter to her death, for it would have been faith in the wrong thing!

There are many sincere people in the world, who want to go in the opposite direction when they die, heaven! They sincerely believe that going to church, living a good life, penance or practising religion will guarantee a place in heaven. They are sincere but sincerely wrong! They are placing their faith in the wrong thing, their good works.

The Bible declares "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). All, without exception, are sinners before a holy God, and born with a sinful nature. No amount of good works can change that or guarantee a place in heaven.

God in wonderful love, has provided the way! Salvation for all at the highest cost to Himself, the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, at Calvary’s cross. He died for your sins, was buried and rose again the third day.

Alive today, His blood can cleanse away all your sin the moment you repent and completely trust Him as your Saviour. Faith in Christ alone will save and fit you for heaven. Blind faith in anything else, no matter how sincere you are, will only mean hell when you die.

Trust Christ now as your Saviour, call upon Him, before it is too late.
